MARGARET MACKAY MORTIMER (nee MCKENZIE) On March 22, 2007, at her residence with her husband Alex and daughter Catherine by her side, Margaret passed away peacefully in her sleep. Margaret was born in Stirling, Scotland, and was the oldest daughter of John and Catherine McKenzie. She was a Nurse's Aide for a number of years while serving in the RAF stationed in Britain. She married my dad on August 6, 1955, and immigrated to Canada a year later, settling in Winnipeg. She leaves her husband Alex; and daughters, Catherine and Alexis (Wayne); and son David (Colleen); and her grandchildren, Karley, Garret and Daniel. She also leaves her sister Ena (Andrew) Lapsley; her sisters-in-law, Cathy Edgar and Barbara Weir (David); and many nieces and nephews all in Scotland; also her friend Lise Carbonneau and good neighbour Jean Ahoff. She was predeceased by both her parents; and her brother-in-law William Edgar. Early in her illness she really enjoyed going shopping and occasionally trying her luck at the casino with myself and Lise. The family wishes to thank Dr. Naseer Ahmed and his nurse Rebecca from CancerCare Manitoba and the nurses of Palliative Care for their kindness, compassion and understanding throughout the latter weeks of my mom's illness. A special thank you to Jennifer and Marianne who were at her side at her passing and whose assistance was greatly appreciated. A very special thank you to nurse Sharon, you were my mom's favourite. In keeping with my mom's wishes a private graveside service will be held. Rev. Fraser Hunter officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Mom's name may be made to D'Arcy's Animal Rescue Shelter, 1793 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0E8. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111
