ROSE MARIE DYKSTRA Rose Marie Dykstra died peacefully on the first day of spring. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her four sons, Thomas (Brenda) of Balmoral, MB, David (Brenda) of Rossland, BC, Arthur (Catherine) of Balmoral, MB, and Martin of Texada Island, BC; as well as her grandchildren, James (Deb), Joseph (Mandy), Bodie, Sara (Jamieson) and Phoebe. Rose Marie was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Cornelius, in November 2005. Rose Marie (Belcher) was born on June 3, 1926, and was raised on the family farm in Bield, Manitoba, and was the youngest of eight children. Rose Marie had a love of horses from a very young age that carried through her entire life. She married Cornelius in 1950, and they dairy farmed in Lilyfield and in Balmoral until their retirement in 1983. After they retired, she and Cor enjoyed annual trips to Victoria and Osoyoos, stopping to visit their family and many friends along the way. Family was the most important thing in her life, and one of her greatest enjoyments was annual family reunions. She looked forward to getting together with brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and their families for visiting, food and the annual Belcher soccer game. Rose Marie appreciated the simple things in life. She had a great love of nature and nurtured animals and flowers while enjoying every minute she could spend outside in her yard and gardens. She loved long walks and to ride her bike, stopping to chat with neighbours and look at wildflowers along her way. Rose was a quiet and loving person, and the family would invite you to share a celebration of her life with them on Friday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Interment will follow at the Victoria Cemetery, Balmoral. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Kanji, Stonewall Hospital, Betel Home, Selkirk, and Selkirk Hospital for their excellent care of Rose Marie during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Osteoporosis Society of Manitoba or CancerCare. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
