THERESE FRASER On Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg, Thérèse Fraser passed away peacefully. Thérèse was predeceased by her husband John A. (Jack) Fraser; her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Stan Fillion of Ottawa; a brother Gerald (Marguerite) Fillion and her aunt Mrs. G. Fontaine, also of Ottawa. Thérèse was born May 28, 1911, in Embrum, Ontario, 30 miles outside of Ottawa. She was a teacher by profession and taught in a bilingual school from 1930 to 1937. She had a very busy life working as a translator with the government for 17 years. She met John (Jack) Fraser at a maple sugar party in Trois Riviere, and married him five days after he returned from the war. They made their home in Winnipeg where Jack was a teacher, and later a principal. They had a wonderful married life - enjoyed friends, social outings, travel and bridge clubs, until Jack's death in 1962. Thérèse was a strong independent, classy lady and she continued their activities, belonging to several bridge clubs, enjoying ballet and theatre. She loved shopping and vacationing, travelling to California, Victoria, New York, and Europe (including Italy). She was particularly pleased to have been only feet away from Pope Jean Paul while visiting the Vatican. Her Roman Catholic faith was always of greatest importance to her. Thérèse would like to thank all her many friends who enriched her life during her later years. A graveside ceremony took place on Monday, March 19, 2007, in Assumption Cemetery. Donations may be made in Thérèse's memory to a charity of choice. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
