AGNES MCCAUSLAND BENIDICKSON (nee RICHARDSON) B.A.(Queen's), LLD, C.C., O. Ont. Chancellor Queen's University 1980 - 1996 Born August 19, 1920 at Chaffey's Locks, Ontario, the eldest child of James A. and Muriel Sprague Richardson. Died suddenly, at home in Ottawa, March 23, 2007. Predeceased by her husband, Senator the Hon. W. M. (Bill) Benidickson, M.P. for Kenora-Rainy River 1945 - 1965, and brother, the Hon. James A. Richardson. Survived by her brother George T. Richardson; sister Kathleen Richardson, and sisters-in-law Shirley Richardson, Tannis Richardson, and Ruby Ashdown. Agnes lived a life enriched by her family, her travels, her experiences and above all by her service to community and country through a host of organizations which she founded, helped to lead and sustain through her tireless volunteer efforts. Her life and her example will continue to be celebrated by her children, Jamie, Kris and Kathleen, their partners, Melanie Mallet, Shirley Benidickson, and Alex Ramsay; daughter-in-law Victoria Young-Benidickson; granddaughters, Nicola Benidickson, Kirsten Benidickson, Martha and Leigh Ramsay, her extended family, and all who were touched by the commitment, insight, grace and generosity which were the hallmarks of her life. Private family service. Memorial celebration to be held at a later date.
