Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTEKLA (TILLIE) TYMOFICHUK May 10, 1912 - March 24, 2007 It is with great sorrow that we announce her peaceful passing at Victoria General Hospital. Tekla was born to Michael and Katherine Lobash in Ostriw, Poland, the youngest of three sisters. She emigrated to Canada in 1933 to join her father Michael in seeking a better life and settled on the new homestead in the Malonton district of the Interlake in the middle of the Great Depression. Mom began to learn many new customs, a new way of life, and a new language. She quickly made friends. Uncles, aunts, and cousins lived in Minneapolis and as time went on there were many joyous visits with food, good cheer, and lasting memories. She married the love of her life, my Tony Tymofichuk in October 1939. Together they worked on the family farm while Tony worked for the CPR. Tillie's pride was her garden which seemed to grow bigger each year. Her joy was in sharing the plentiful produce with family, friends, and even strangers. Once the Grey Goose bus driver stopped to ask if she would sell him some corn which he had admired all summer on his daily route. She did, but took no payment. She enjoyed seeing someone appreciate the fruits of her efforts. But her greatest joy was in raising her two sons. All her life Tillie lived by the creed Love one another and thy neighbours Her concern for family showed in her parting words of every goodbye until the next time . She was a faithful member of St. Mary the Protectress Greek Catholic Church in Malonton which her father had helped to build. Tillie was predeceased by husband Tony in 1980; her mother in 1916; her father in 1939; and two sisters in Poland. She is survived by her sons, Ernie (Elaine) and Ed (Isabel); grandchildren, Sheryl, Dwayne, Chris, Karen (Robert), Susan (Adam); and great-grand-daughter Sarah. She also leaves behind cousins Floyd and Josephine in Minneapolis. The family wish to thank the caring and loving staff at Teulon Gateway Manor, Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, Maples Personal Care Home, and the doctors and nursing staff at the Victoria General Hospital. Prayers will be offered Monday evening, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Home in Teulon, MB. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Home in Teulon. Interment will follow at the Fraserwood Community Cemetery. Pallbearers are Chris Tymofichuk, Dwayne Tymofichuk, Erik Olexa, Dennis Kozakevich, Robert Turcan, and William Feschuk. Honourary pallbearers are Floyd Lobash, Craig Lobash, and Brad Lobash. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Tillie's memory may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to a charity of choice. Baba, Mama, you will be dearly missed but you will always remain in our hearts and memories. Rest in Peace.
