Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET SUSANNAH NELSON On Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Portage District General Hospital, Margaret Susannah Nelson, a resident of the Douglas Campbell Lodge, passed away at the age of 96 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Fraser Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Margaret was born on October 8, 1910, at Lily Bay, Manitoba, daughter of George and Edith Nelson where she was raised and received her education. On November 1, 1926, she left Lily Bay and moved to Portage la Prairie. This was where she lived for several years as she worked at the Airport, The Residential School, then moving to Winnipeg she worked at the University of Manitoba. In 1939 she began to work for the Fort Garry Hotel, working her way up to management in housekeeping. On October 1975 she retired from the Fort Garry. In October of 2006 she moved to reside at the Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie. Predeceased by her parents, three brothers, Dave, Ben and Charlie, three sisters, Annie Jones, Grace Nelson, and Maude McCallister, she leaves to mourn her passing three sisters, Edith Lamont, Gladys Watkinson and Iris Clark and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation prior to the service. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
