Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWIN THOMAS CAISTER On Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Portage District General Hospital, Edwin Thomas Caister of Portage la Prairie, widower of the late Estelle Caister, partner of Joan Pongoski, passed away at the age of 75 years. Funeral service will be held in St. Mary's Anglican Church on Thursday, March 29, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with the Venerable Norman Collier officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Ed was born on March 22, 1932, son of Mary and Joseph Caister in the West Curtis District. He attended the West Curtis and Portage Collegiate schools. He was employed with Ideal Van Lines for a time before becoming employed with the Manitoba Telecom Services from which he retired. In 1956 he married Estelle Yasinchuk and together they raised their family of two. Ed was a member of St Mary's Anglican Church and a member of the Elk's Lodge # 32. He enjoyed curling, old-time music, fiddle contests, and dancing, baseball, camping, and especially his morning coffee group at Tim Horton's East end. Predeceased by his parents, his wife Estelle, his brothers, Cecil and Allan, his sister-in-law Ruth, he leaves to mourn his passing his partner Joan Pongoski, his daughter Kim (Ed) Borchardt of Lockport, MB, his son Greg Caister (Sonja Fontaine) of Red Deer, AB. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Audrey (Boris) Zurkan of West Curtis, Len (Bea) Caister of Chase, BC, Leslie (Donna) Caister of Edmonton, AB, Albert (Marion) Caister of Portage, sisters-in-law, Irene Caister of Kelowna, BC, Nancy (John) Shabon of Wakaw, SK, Anne (Frank) Boychuk of Winnipeg, and brother-in-law Fred Yasinchuk of Edmonton, AB, and many nieces and nephews.
