Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDUNNY DEWAR 1924 - 2007 It is with great sadness the Dewar family announces the passing of Dundas (Dunny) Simpson Dewar on March 25, 2007, at the age of 83 years old. Dunny was born January 28, 1924. At the age of 15, Dunny graduated from high school and began his career of 49 years with the T. Eaton Company. At the age of 18 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served overseas until the war was over. After the war, he met the love of his life, Julie Stanchuk, at the dance in Grand Beach. They were married on October 21, 1949. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage and were blessed with two children. In 1951 he became a Mason. He proceeded onto the Scottish Right in 1962, then became a member of the Winnipeg Shrine Club. Dunny enjoyed his years with the Drum and Bugle Corps. where he played the glockenspiel. He always loved a parade, especially in Gimli! Dunny's favourite pastime was golf. He was a member of the Assiniboine Golf Course for 40 years and was lucky to get two holes in one. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know him always commented on how he was such a Nice Guy. Dunny will be lovingly remembered by his wife Judy; daughter Heather (Wayne); son Larry (Susan); four grandchildren, Jeff (Mandi), Kristen (Shawn), Ashton, Mackenzie; his great-grandchild Lexie; and many other family members. A celebration of Dunny's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2007, at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dunny's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6.
