NORMAN LUDWIG HUBATKA On Friday, March 23, 2007, at Concordia Hospital, Norman, aged 76, went peacefully surrounded by friends and family. Norman is survived by his wife, Gertrude Hubatka, three children, Karen Bilowus (Bob), Harry Hubatka (Charlene), and Walter Hubatka, his grandchildren, Cindy Loeb (Kevin), David Bilowus, Stacey Hubatka (Chris), Jamie Hubatka (Weronika), Spencer and Reena Hubatka, his great-grandchildren, Jordan, Brayden, Riley, Nathan Loeb and Kayla Bilowus, his brothers, Gephard (Elsa) of BC, Willie, and Tony (Josephine) of Austria, his in-laws, Adele Barwitzki (Guenther), Rudi Huber (Ruth), Hilda Miller (Bill) of BC, Henry Huber (Barbara) of Winnipeg, Hank Huber (Carol) of Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by his sister Emmy and his grandson Myles Hubatka. He was born in Prince Albert, SK, on November 3, 1930. He left Canada at age five, was educated in Austria and returned at age 17. Norman was a great outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, downhill and water skiing but above all, loved being at Beresford Lake with Gertie, family and friends. To many he was thought of as the Mayor of Beresford. He always dreamed of living out at the lake and achieved this dream in the early 90s, living there with beloved wife Gertie for 15 years. He started his career working with plaster and stucco in the early 50s. This gave him the knowledge and skills to start his own company, Metro Plastering. He was an excellent craftsman who passed on his skills to his sons, Harry and Walter, his grandson, Jamie and future grandson Chris. Bob is also a member of the Metro Plastering team. He believed in hard work and never accepted anything but the best from himself and others. He got along with everyone and was never shy about making a new friend or acquaintance. Not a day will go by that he will not be in our thoughts and minds. He made an impact on everyone he met. Norman will be greatly missed and Beresford will not be the same without him. We love you. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Concordia Hospital especially Dr. Johnson and Taylor for keeping Norman as comfortable as possible. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with Pastor Bob Jacob presiding. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Norman's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 (774-7483) or charity of choice.
