ALAIN (AL) SIMON May 7, 1960 March 26, 2007 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Al Simon. Following a courageous battle with cancer, he leaves family and friends to mourn the loss of a special person whose kindness and sparkle will long be remembered. His memory will be cherished by his son Joey, his mother Estelle, and his brother and family, Charles, Sheila, Camille and Madeleine. He was predeceased by his father, Leo and brother, Claude. Al had a strong work ethic throughout his life which he continued to demonstrate in the final years of his illness. Equally important to him were the happy times that he spent with family and friends. In particular, his son Joey was the light of his life. The close vigil of his friends at his bedside was a reflection of his ties with them. His family will long have fond stories of their times together, keeping his memory alive. Funeral service will be held at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 rue Des Meurons, St. Boniface, on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at P.W. Lavack Columbarium, St. Boniface Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the St. Boniface General Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion throughout the final months of Al's life.
