BETTY JEAN FILION (nee IVERSON) November 11, 1924 - March 26, 2007 Peacefully on March 26, 2007, Betty Jean Filion passed away at the Ashern Personal Care Home, at the age of 82 years. Mom was born in Winnipeg, MB. She grew up and attended school in the Birch Bay area. She married Cyril Hillyer on October 27, 1945. Together they farmed in the Davis Point district on the Hillyer family homestead. After Cyril's untimely passing in November 1966, she continued to operate the family farm with the help of her two oldest sons Marvin and Edwin. She married Lionel Filion on June 27, 1970, and moved to Steep Rock with the twins Larry and Eva. She moved to the Ashern Personal Care home in October 2000. She is survived by her husband Lionel, her sons; Marvin (Linda) Hillyer Redcliff, AB, Edwin (Lillian) Hillyer, Bon Accord, AB, Larry (Christine) Filion, Steeprock, MB, daughters; Evelyn (Lou) Gunther, Faulkner, MB, and Eva (Ben) Podlaski, Arnes, MB, grandchildren; Corrine (Joey), Heather, Darryl (Krista), Devon (Charlene), Curtis (Katie), William and Jared, great-grandchildren; Sonja, Michael, Mason, Alexandria, Brayden, Tyler, Logan and Warrick, twin brother Iver (Merle) Iverson, brother Tom (Myrtle) Iverson, sisters Emma Bankert, and Kathleen (Bill) Klatt, sister-in-law Yvonne, brother-in-law Ted, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Cyril, parents Iver and Emma Iverson, siblings Ellen, James, Eddie, Ida and Martha. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2007, at the Faulkner Community Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Service will conclude at the hall with a private family interment to be held at the Davis Point Cemetery at a later date. Thank you to the staff at the Ashern Personal Care Home for their care and compassion.
