EDWARD (TED) MAYO Peacefully at Deer Lodge Centre on March 27, 2007, Edward Aubrey (Ted) Mayo, aged 83 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward A. Mayo, mother Constance (Willson) Mayo; sister Elizabeth Mayo Grant; brother-in-law Mac Grant. Ted was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on May 8, 1923. Finishing school, he joined up with the Air Force in 1941. Upon discharge, he joined Saskatchewan Government Airways. From there, he went on with Trader's Finance then General Motor's Acceptance Corporation until retirement. He loved music and was active with St. Ignatius Church Choir Men's Philharmonic Choir for some years. His love of planes gave him the opportunity to enjoy volunteering with the Western Canada Aviation Museum in the Western Canada Library Archives, earning an Honorary Life Membership. His participation and affiliation with the Winnipeg Philatelic Society earned him a W.P.B. Distinguished Service Award in 1989. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Winnifred (Wyn); son Kenneth (Linda); two daughters, Kellie of Winnipeg and Peggy Mayo Chipman (John) of Huntsville, Ontario, and family in Winnipeg. He will also be remembered by his grandchild Johanna Chipman, also Karen (Scott), Robin (Christopher) and David, Cory and Jess. Respecting Ted's wishes, cremation has taken place, there will be no service, and burial will occur later in the spring. If friends desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
