Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER (WLADYSLAW) TOMCZYNA It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father Walter (Wladyslaw) Tomczyna on March 28, 2007, at 5:59 p.m. in the loving arms of his family to return home with God. He was truly an angel. Walter was born on the 18th day of February, 1912, in Kujdance, district of Zbaraz, province of Tarnopol, Poland, where he lived with his parents until 1936. He was enlisted for service in the Polish Army (both in the infantry and also in the Cavalry) he served for two years. In August 1939 he was called up again to serve in the 12th Artillery Regiment in Rzeszow. He was taken prisoner by the Germans and spent the war years in Germany working near Halle and Torgau until the end of the war. As a prisoner of war he was kept in Stalag IV-A and Stalag IV-D. After the war he immigrated to Canada where he wanted to build a future. He was very proud to be a Canadian but never forgot his Polish heritage. His early years were difficult ones. His mother passed away when he was four years old and he and his sisters lived with relatives until his father remarried and the family was reunited. Through unimaginable hardships that he experienced in his life, he became the corner stone in Mom's life. He loved to read and had a passion for gardening. His love for animals was second to none. He is survived by his son Tadeusz (Gienia); grandchildren, Jola and Stanislaw, numerous grandchildren in Poland. He is survived by his love and soul mate Wanda of 50 years; children, Henry (Pauline), Stan (Lorraine), Ted (Rita), and Christina (Alfred); and daughter-in-law Theresa. He was predeceased by his son Eugene in 1996. God blessed him by giving him a good mind and strong will until the very end. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital I.C.U for their compassion, understanding and excellent care given to Dad. We also would like to extend our thanks to the homecare workers (Margaret, Marsha, Josie, Joan, Mia, Anita and Alexandra) for their love, compassion and patience given to Walter and Mom. Prayers for the intention of Walter's soul will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Monday, April 2, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue.
