KATHERINE (KATE) ALLARDICE
Born: Mar 26, 1963
Date of Passing: Mar 28, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHERINE (KATE) ALLARDICE With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Kate on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Riverview Health Centre after a long-fought struggle with cancer. She leaves behind her two daughters, Heather and Emma (David and Ian), her mother Val and her two siblings, James (Laura) and Graham, also her nieces, Meagan, Amanda, Cara and her nephew Ethan, cousin Moray and family in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. Kate was born on March 26, 1963, in England. The following year, the family moved to Saskatchewan and four years later, relocated to Winnipeg. Growing up in St. James, she attended high school at Westwood Collegiate and later studied nursing at The University of Manitoba. After graduating, she began her career as an RN at Women's Hospital. She took great pride in working alongside her father Dr. James G. Allardice, Head of Clinical Obstetrics. After his passing in 1996, she transitioned to working in all areas of the OR. Kate excelled at academics and was always looking for new challenges in life. Some of her interests included cooking, art, music, camping and spending quality time at the family cottage. She found great comfort in her faith in God and her involvement at The Meeting Place guided by her minister and friend Gerry Goertzen. She continually took the initiative in planning social gatherings and family get-togethers but was never one to seek the centre of attention. Kate established many wonderful friendships throughout her life and earned a tremendous amount of respect and admiration. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Grace Hospital and, in particular, Riverview Health Centre (3E). We would also like to thank Kate's closest friends who cared for her during the last few months of her life. A memorial service in Kate's honour will be held on Monday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home at 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to: Investors Group in trust for Heather Emma Stewart, Attention Gordon Prazinak, 9th floor, 1661 Portage Avenue, R3J 3T7. I have often thought of Katie over the years and was so sorry to hear of her passing. I returned to live in England after High School and we lost touch which is a great pity. I have such very fond memories of our High School days at Westwood and Katie is always a central player in many of the lovely memories I have. There isn't enough space to recount even my fondest memories and it is a testament to how captivating she was that I still remember her so clearly despite last seeing her over 30 years ago. - Posted by: Nicki Hughes (Friend) on: Apr 29, 2015
