HILDEGARD ZIRK Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Mrs. Hildegard Zirk (nee Neurenberg) passed away on March 28, 2007, at the Beausejour Hospital at the age of 83 after a brief battle with cancer. Mom faced her illness with courage and dignity. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye, but we know she is now at rest. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 66 years, Martin. Her memory will be forever cherished by her children, Orlando (Ann) Zirk, Kurt (Kathy) Zirk, Annette (Herb) Frailick, Deb (Hartley) Pokrant, Pat (Ron Woligroski) Zirk, Peggy (Chris) Orr; grandchildren, Richard (Danielle) Zirk, Jodine (Scott) MacDuff, Landon Morris, Ryan and Karlie-Rae Zirk, Robert Frailick, Sheri Frailick, Lori (Garth) Kroeker, Justin Pokrant, Brenden and Trevor Woligroski, Stephen, Carly and Lauren Anderson, extended family Matthew Orr; and great-grandchildren, Aaron and Thomas Kroeker and Logan MacDuff. She was predeceased by her parents Ferdinand and Alwine Neurenberg; sisters, Lena Kowalke, Irene Frank and Lillian (in infancy). She is survived by her brother Ed (Gladys) Neurenberg; sisters, Adelle Patzer, Elizabeth Hemminger and Eleanor Gatzke; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Fiebelkorn, Adella Zirk, Madge Zirk; and many nieces and nephews. Hilda was born on April 8, 1923, in Friedensfeld, MB, and later moved to Lowland, MB, with her family. She met Martin Zirk in 1939 and a year later on October 13, 1940, they were married. They worked hard together to build the family farm in Glenmoor, MB, where they raised their six children. Mom and Dad were founding members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Glenmoor until its closing. In 1981, they sold the farm and built a new home in Beausejour. There they became members of Zion Lutheran Church. Mom was loving, compassionate, selfless and gentleyet strong. Her abiding faith sustained her to the end, which gave us all courage and strength. She will always be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, which would sparkle and light up the room every time we visited. She was a loving wife who was devoted to Dad throughout her life and especially during the last several years when Dad became a resident at a nursing home. Their love and friendship is eternal. Wings of the Angels A gentle wind blew cross the land Reaching out to take a hand For on the winds the angels came Calling out a mother's name. Left behind, the children's tears Loving memories of the years Of joy and love, a life well spent And now to God a mother's sent. On angel's wings, a heavenly flight The journey home, towards the light To those who weep, a life is gone But in God's love, tis but the dawn. Our thanks to Dr. Garth Campbell, the nurses and health care aides at the Beausejour Hospital and the Palliative Care team. We invite family and friends to celebrate her life at a service to be held on Monday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 403 First Street N., Beausejour, MB, with Pastor Hugh Laidlaw presiding. Interment to follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends wish, donations in Mom's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, re: Lung Cancer Research or to Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Box 968, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
