ELIZABETH (LIZ / BETTY) EVANS On January 7, 2007, Elizabeth (Liz / Betty) Evans passed away peacefully at the Concordia Hospital. Elizabeth was born on November 15, 1924, to Francis and Elizabeth Hooper in Govan, Glasgow, Scotland. She was the oldest of 10 children. She met and married the love of her life, Johnny (a Canadian soldier stationed in Airshire) on January 22, 1945, and immigrated to Canada in May of 1946. Elizabeth and Johnny settled in Winnipeg, where upon they had three children. Elizabeth joined the Sons of Scotland and other Scottish organizations and developed many friendships which she maintained until her death. Elizabeth was known to many as either Betty, Lizzie, or Liz. She worked for Eaton's, River East School Division and later as a companion at the Sharon Home. She loved to travel and visited such places as Britain, Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, South Africa, Cuba, the Bahamas as well as travel throughout the US. Her legacy will live on in her children: Paula (Mike), Heather and Ian (Anita), as well as her grandchildren: Dallas (Jane), Sean (Amy), Evan (Cassandra), Amber (Sean), Kyle, Neil, Seamus and Keegan along with her great-grandchildren: Aidan, Keely, Lexie and Hadley. She also leaves her sister Helen, brothers, James, Frank, John, Robert and William. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Johnny of 47 years in 1992. She precedeased her youngest brother Joe and oldest brother Louis. Again, the family would like to thank all the health care staff of 3 East at Concordia Hospital as well as all of her caregivers over the last number of years. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place on March 31, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy.
