Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySANDRA HELEN SKOGAN (nee BATES) Quietly and peacefully, Sandra passed away in her sleep on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at her home in Teulon, MB. Sandra is survived by her husband of 38 years, Bill; only daughter Lana, her husband Kelly and the apple of Sandra's eye , seven month old grandson Kelvyn; sister Donna and her husband David Wilson, nephews, David (Daniel, Matthew and Brendan) and Paul Obirek; mother-in-law Helen Skogan; brother-in-law Bert Skogan, his wife Shirley, their children, Ingrid and Eric; sister-in-law Karen Willis, her husband Lyle, their children, Karla, Kyle and fiance Anita (Jayden). Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Enid Bates; brother Donald; niece Sandra Merle; father-in-law Herb Skogan; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sandra was born in Winnipeg on March 5, 1943. Sandra received her high school diploma from Tec Voc, although she spent most of her school years at Elmwood High, with her friends Trudene, Sandra and Pat. After school, she was employed as a secretary at the Air Force Base in Winnipeg and later, as the secretary at Teulon Elementary School. The arrival of Lana prompted her decision to stay home and become a full-time mom. A good decision, as she proved to be a wonderful mother and grandmother. A city girl marrying a farmer is not an easy transition - then or now. Sandra gave 110% effort to her and Billy's farming operation of grain and livestock. Sanny listened patiently to all of Billy's ideas and plans regardless of what she really thought - always having the coffee pot on for whoever dropped in, then listening to his stories and plans all over again! Sandra's family and friends were very important to her throughout her life. Special occasions, crib tournaments, South Beach tours, birthday and coffee parties were always enjoyed for friendship and socializing. Billy, Lana and Kelly invite you all to join them in a memorial service for Sandra on Tuesday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Teulon Centennial Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family have requested donations be given to the Teulon and District Museum, Box 44, Teulon, MB R0C 3B0. I know how often I took you for granted when I was growing up. I always assumed you'd be there when I needed you... and you always were. But I never really thought about what that meant till I got older and began to realize how often your time and energy were devoted to Dad and me. So now, for all the times I didn't say it before, thank you, Mom... I love you so very much! Mom, you were my best friend and you will be in all of our hearts forever! MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
