SEBASTIANO DI CURZIO With deepest sadness, we announce the passing, after a courageous battle with cancer, of Sebastiano Di Curzio on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Riverview Health Centre surrounded by family and friends. Sebastiano was predeceased by his mother Maddalena, his father Giuseppe, his sister Maria, brother-in-law Giovanni Profeta and sister-in-law Anna Di Curzio. Left to cherish his fond memories is his loving wife of 53 years Maria; sons, Joe (Barb), Paolo (Roxanna) and his granddaughters, Alexandra and Marina. Also left to mourn are his brothers, Tommaso of Winnipeg, Luigi (Adela), Vincenzo (Lina) of Italy, and Pierino (Teresina) of Switzerland and his nieces and nephews, Maddalena, Anna, Gabriella, Fabrizia, Elena, Luciano, Fiorindo, Gianni, Patrizia, Rosanna, Loreta, Sandra, Maurizio, Domenico, Alessandro and Daniella along with many other family and friends. Sebastiano was born in Canzano, Italy, March 15, 1929. He was a farmer and a butcher and also served in the Italian army in the Alpini division. In 1967 Sebastiano and Maria brought their family to Winnipeg to start a new life. He worked for Westeel Rosco, CPL and CP rail until he retired in 1993. He was dedicated to his family and worked tirelessly to give them a good life. He loved and cherished his wife Maria and together they raised their sons in a loving family that was filled with family and friends and always an open door to a fabulous meal and great glass of wine. You could be sure that music and dancing would follow along with more food until late into the night. He had a love of life and a heart of gold and was always there with a helping hand. He was well known for his porchetta, wine and garden, where he loved to spend many hours. Sebastiano was very proud of his sons and encouraged and supported them in all their endeavours. His pride and joy were his two granddaughters whom he loved and cherished and proudly followed all their achievements. Sebastiano also dedicated many hours to different organizations. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Church choir for over 30 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Amici Abbruzzesi Club and Gruppo Alpini. He also dedicated countless hours to fundraising for many different organizations. The family would like to thank the health care staff at the palliative care at St Boniface Hospital and Riverview Health Centre. Special thanks to nephew Domenico for all of his support during Papa's stay at Riverview Health Centre. Thanks also to Dr. Kemkaren for his support and care throughout the years. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, April 3rd at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 4th at Holy Rosary Parish at 10:00 a.m. with Rev Sam Argenziano presiding.
