Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryChange in Time of Service TIMOTHY (TIM) ANDREW FRASER December 1, 1973 March 28, 2007 It is with our absolute and most deepest sadness that we announce the death of our son, brother, hero, and proud firefighter Timothy (Tim) Andrew Fraser. Tim passed away on March 28, 2007. Tim is survived by his proud and loving parents, Bob and Bettie, his brother Jamie (Pam), Aunt Maureen Spadano (Ben), Uncle Jim Fraser (Michael), Aunt Pattie Hopke (Ray), cousins, Kevin (Carmelita, Ryan, and Connor) and Ben Hopke, and his beloved dog Moppy. Tim was also predeceased by his grandparents, James and Norma Fraser and George and June Black, as well as close family friend Mary Canary' Leaf. Tim was also especially fond and loved very much his adopted grandmother Stella. As a boy Tim attended Buchanan Elementary School and Hedges Junior High School, followed by John Taylor Collegiate where Tim was a star of the varsity Pipers basketball team. After graduation, Tim worked at MacDon Industries for four years where he met some of his lifelong friends including Gary MacDonald and Dave LeCroix. Over the course of these four years, Tim worked tirelessly building his resume, with courses, and work and voluntary experience, in order to apply to the Brandon Fire College to realize his lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter. After graduation in April 1999, Tim was the first out-of-province firefighter to be hired by the City of Saskatoon Fire Department where he served with distinction for two years. Tim's dream was to return to Winnipeg to work for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and he fulfilled this dream in July 2001, returning to Winnipeg and has since been stationed at No. 1, No. 12, and most recently No. 10 fire station. Tim was an extremely dedicated and proud member of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. Tim was fearless on the job and risked his life countless times to help and save others. In fact, Tim made front page news in the Winnipeg Free Press on February 6, 2002, after dashing into a burning three storey building and rescuing a woman with the use of a thermal imaging camera. He was awarded a medal of bravery for his heroics. Like very few people in this world are able to accomplish, Tim realized his lifelong dream and goal of becoming a firefighter and had the distinct pleasure, like so many others don't, of looking forward to going to work every day. Tim enjoyed keeping fit with boxing, weightlifting and bike riding. He also loved the outdoors where he and his family spent numerous summers camping at Rushing River Provincial Park. Tim enjoyed working on projects around his home with his Dad and they were so proud to build the garage of Tim's dreams in 2006, a true fortress'. Tim was also excited to obtain his Irish Citizenship and his Irish passport from Dublin. Tim and his brother shared the strongest bond as only brothers do. They watched out for one another over the years and were always there for one another. Tim and Jamie have many fond memories growing up including playing basketball together on the John Taylor Pipers varsity basketball team, the Lord Selkirk Boy Scout Pipe Band, playing football, and just doing the things brothers love to do. They also have extremely fond memories of visiting their Uncle Jim and Michael in Los Angeles, CA. Tim loved his family deeply and was an incredibly sensitive and compassionate person. He cherished his close friends, Kirby, Dave, Mark, Todd, Chris, Ray, Jeff, Jason, Hugh, Jack, Alex, Rob, Tom, Jaws, Glen (SFD), Tom (FDNY), and his many brothers and sisters in the Winnipeg, Saskatoon, and New York Fire Departments. He also cherished the bond he formed with his close and caring neighbors, George and Rose. Tim had the kindest of hearts for all animals, especially his beloved dog Moppy' and would always go out of his way to take-in any stray animal wandering the streets of Winnipeg. A full firefighters memorial service will be held in Tim's honour on Thursday, April 5 at 12:00 noon at St. Andrew's Anglican Church at 2700 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Tim Fraser's name to The Manitoba Emergency Services College at 1601 VanHorne Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. Candle Light I cannot be a glowing distant light; a comet Or celestial wonder, bright. Just as any lonely man am I, searching for a friendly hand outstretched, Filled with thoughts and doubts and quests. My light must simply be a self-consuming candle, small, but bright. Good-bye my family, my life is past. I loved you all to the very last. Weep not for me, but courage take, Love each other for my sake. For those you love don't go away. They walk beside you every day. Dance with the angels Tim. Tim, we know you are at peace, happy, and watching over us every day as you did while you were here. You will always be our hero. Go rest and be free our son and brother! - Lots of love Dad, Mom, Jamie, Pam, Moppy and family.

My deepest sympathies go out to the family of such a wonderful person with an amazing spirit. He was a great friend to have. Although we lost touch as the years grew older, I never forgot all the good times back in the Buchanan days. I have vivid memories of playing every sport imaginable out in the old park behind his house, all the hockey on the street, on the ice, or in the gym. Tim made every event memorable and he lived life to the fullest, everything was more fun as long as Tim was there. Marc LeBrun - Posted by: Marc LeBrun (Friend) on: Apr 04, 2007

I was so saddened by Tim’s death as he had so much to offer this world. We were very close in high school and I wish I could have been in contact with him over the last few years. I was proud of him for becoming a firefighter and his many accomplishments. I am glad that Jamie did that article as it allows Tim's friends to remember the great person he was & not to dwell on one incident. We wish you all the strength to get through this. He will be deeply missed. Chrysti (Cheyne) Mannix & Family - Posted by: Dawna Cheyne (Family) on: Apr 03, 2007
