Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTOINETTE MACCARTHY August 18, 1915 - March 31, 2007 Our matriarch is now in the hands of the Lord. Antoinette MacCarthy died peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital March 31, 2007. Although unexpected her family is comforted by the significance of this special day: Saturday is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who Antoinette had great devotion to. It was also the anniversary of her mother, Eva Houde's, birthday. Antoinette died with her children at her side. She will be greatly missed by her son Dane MacCarthy (Anne), daughters, Kathleen Kobelka-Harck (Karl), Elaine McNabb (Bob), son John MacCarthy (Patty) and son-in-law Mike Babcock (Marcie). She was predeceased by her husband John MacCarthy; longtime friend George Jorgensen; daughter Gail Babcock; son-in-law Peter Kobelka; brother Larry Houde; and sister Berthe Delveaux. Antoinette was affectionately known as Grams and GG to her 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. They hold her close to their hearts because of her unique ability to respond to each of them as friends. Remembered for her joie de vivre, a real zest for life, her strong faith and a love of family and friends, Antoinette had a way of putting a smile on your face and keeping it there. Whether it was with her good humour, her sharp wit, or her beautiful voice, Antoinette was always welcoming. Her amazing capacity to forgive and not judge is a lasting legacy to us all. Born in Ste. Rose, Manitoba, Antoinette spent many years travelling and living throughout Canada and the United States. Most recently she found a new home and special friends at Lion's Place in Winnipeg. A prayer service will be held at Ste. Rose funeral home at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 3. The funeral is scheduled for 12:00 noon, April 4 at Ste. Rose Roman Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
