ROSALIE DAVIES 1929 - 2007 On March 31, 2007, at Riverview Health Centre, Rosalie Davies, widow of Vernon Delmar Davies (1926 - 1998), passed away following a brave battle with cancer. She is lovingly remembered by her son Richard, daughter-in-law Karen and grandchildren Heather and Scott, all of Edmonton. Born in Libau, Manitoba, Rosalie left the family farm early and moved to Winnipeg where she resided the rest of her life. During her working years Rosalie was very busy, versatile and adaptable, working hard for her employers and in many different businesses, some of them now gone, including Kowalson's, Dr. MacIntyre, Furby Grill Restaurant, Willow Waffle Shop, Eaton's Mail Order, Daisy's Tea Room, Baldwinson's Bakery, Rogers' Confectionery, Wilson's Confectionery, Great West Life, Assiniboine Hotel, Hudson's Bay Company, Child's Restaurant, Boeing, Canada Post, Canadian Wheat Board, Oakview Home, Manitoba Clinic, Grace Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital and Deer Lodge Hospital. Rosalie's retirement years were happy ones. Her fondest memories were of her marriage to Del, particularly those years that they lived out of suitcases travelling to the States, Florida, Mexico, Venezuela, Portugal, Great Britain and Hawaii. Rose and Del were both snazzy dancers who were the envy of other couples at socials. They were often seen, inseparably, walking to and from Assiniboine Park. Rosalie's was a good life. She felt she lived out many of her dreams and then some. She had high standards for herself and was well respected and appreciated by the many people whom she came into contact with. After her husband passed away she continued her dancing and walks to the park, stopping at Del's bench in the zoo. It should be noted that Rosalie was a proud lady who successfully maintained her independence and owed nothing to anyone. Her family will especially miss her unique honesty, humour and support. Like Del, she will be irreplaceable and unforgettable. One is not likely to know anyone quite like her again. At Rosalie's request, cremation was the preferred arrangement and this notice marks her final passing. Those who knew Rosalie may contribute to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Assiniboine Park, where she spent many hours of pleasure, if they wish. No flowers please. Many thanks to WRHA Palliative Care Nurses Janet Richard and Patricia Allan, as well as the staff of 3E - C1 at Riverview Health Centre.
