HELEN ELIZABETH SPEARMAN Following a courageous battle with cancer, Helen Spearman passed away April 1, 2007, with her family by her side. Helen was born May 17, 1930, at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, MB. Her parents were Anne and David Johnston of La Riviere, MB. Helen was the beloved wife of John (Jack) for over 55 years and worked by his side to run the family farm in Crystal City while raising five children: David (Janice), Robert (Wendy), Allan (Edna), Elaine and Glendon (Lori). She will be fondly remembered by grandchildren, Sean, Kelly, Gregory, Cindy and Theresa, and two great-grandchildren, Rayvin and Moira. Helen was a fantastic cook and homemaker who enjoyed nothing more than having family, friends, and relatives out to the farm for numerous gatherings, whatever the occasion. Mom's main passion, in addition to her family, was her love of art and gardening. She created over a thousand oil paintings, which have made their way around the world. Every member of the family and many members of the community have examples of her talent on display in their homes. She shared her artistic abilities as a member, and then volunteering as a teacher, in the local art clubs. Her pictures were displayed in many art shows, the legislature, and art galleries around the province. A private service will be held at the family farm April 7 for the immediate family. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Come and Go Time of Remembrance to share some happy memories. Announcements will be posted locally as to date and time. In lieu of flowers, to commemorate Mom's love of art, donations may be made in her memory to the Fine Arts Association at Pilot Mound School, Pilot Mound, MB R0G 1P0.
