EARL VINCENT MCCALLUM It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Vincent McCallum, peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 76 years. Earl will be forever remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Remaining to forever cherish Earl's memory are his beloved wife of 53 years of marriage, Joyce; son Craig; daughter Karen; grandsons, Christopher and Michael Penner; and by Art Roberge; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Noble and Annie McCallum; brothers, Gordon and Ross; and his sister Dorene. Born September 25, 1930, in Roland, MB, Earl lived and worked in Winnipeg, always with his loving wife, and his family near. He was dedicated to his family, and our gatherings were among his greatest joys. Earl was helpful to everyone he knew. He was our painter, plumber, electrician, and handyman. Any task that needed doing was tackled with a smile, and completed to perfection. Earl will be remembered by those who knew him as a good friend, with a ready smile and a joke to share. He greatly enjoyed spending his summers at the cottage and sharing time with friends. Earl enjoyed his career as a pharmacist, continuing to work at the family business, Brathwaite's Pharmacy. He was a member of the Manitoba Society of Pharmacists for over 50 years, receiving his 50 Year Certificate in 2004. Earl will be missed by the many customers and fellow employees with whom he always had time for a smile, a joke, or a caring moment. A funeral service for Earl will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Avenue and Lanark Street. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Johnson and the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for all the care given to Earl. In lieu of flowers, donations in Earl's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
