SOLANGE (SALLY) MARTIN (nee IMBERT) It is with great love and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of our mother, Solange Martin on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the Victoria Hospital, at the age of 83 years. Mom had been in the care of Foyer Valade this past year after having resided at L'Accueil Colombien for 23 years. Left to cherish her memory are her three children, her daughter Georgette and her husband Jerry Couture, her two sons, Noel and Real and his wife Patricia. Memère will be missed by her six grandchildren, Simone (Damian), Lynne (Chris), Alain, Dave (Christy), Tyler (Jody), Jenna and her nine great-grandchildren, Brigitte, Colin, Lizann, Annika, Hallie, Matteo, Indiana, Nevaeh and Rhames. Solange leaves in great sadness her partner Mr. Bill Milford, who has been her devoted companion and dance partner for the past 16 years. Also left to mourn Solange's passing are her sisters-in-law, Grace Martin and Emma Little and brothers-in-law, Henri Martin and Adrien (John) Martin and his wife Rose, along with special nieces and nephews. Solange was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Theobald (Ted) in 1990, her sister Augustine Colbe in 1981 and Noel's partner, Lorna Lacombe in 2004. Solange was born in LeTelag, Algeria on April 30, 1923, and immigrated to the Souris Valley area, near Radville, SK, at the age of six. Mom was no stranger to sorrow, having lost both her parents and three siblings, save for one older sister at a very young age. In 1946, Solange married Ted and they lived in Radville, SK. The family has lived in St. Jean Baptiste, MB, and St. Adolphe, MB, where mom worked alongside dad managing the Co-op store before coming to St. Boniface to operate their own grocery store, Chez Martin on Provencher Boulevard for 23 years. Mom spent her retirement years crafting, knitting, crocheting, acting in short plays, travelling, gardening and being a good friend. Solange will mostly be remembered as a hard working, fun loving woman with enormous energy. Mom's life was one of strength and resourcefulness. She taught by example. She was the force that made us a family. Her life was rich and fulfilled and she touched many with her love and determination. Special thanks to all who have provided care to our mom over the last few years. If friends so wish, memorial tributes may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 9, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St., with Father Ron Leger officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her six grandchildren. Coeur de maman, tu es la bonté même.' The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
