She is reunited with her mom and dad, Lyna and Peter Skinner and her sister Jeannette. Kathleen is welcomed home as well by her father-in-law Gus Fischer. Attending St. Ignatius School, St. Mary's Academy and the University of Manitoba, she then embarked on her career as a Physical Education teacher and counselor for the Winnipeg #1 School Division. She passionately embraced her career making a positive impact on the lives of so many children and their families. Kathleen lived her faith in everyday life. She lovingly cared for her students, her colleagues, her friends and strangers who crossed her path. Many were blessed with her listening presence, her smile, her laugh, her generosity and her numerous notes of encouragement. Most important in Kathleen's life were her husband and her boys. Her world revolved around them. She cherished family time in Winnipeg, Brereton Lake and Laclu, ON. She loved to watch her boys participate in their varied activities. Were there other hockey players on the ice? Were there other musicians in the band? She encouraged her boys to share their lives with her and she listened with devotion. She grieved their disappointments and celebrated their successes. She challenged them to be the best that they could be. Kathleen was a born teacher. Her teaching gifts were generously shared in the classroom of life. Thank you Kathleen! Your legacy lives on in the lessons you have taught. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford Street at Corydon Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Peter Monty, S. J., presiding. Kathleen and her family thank all the angels in CancerCare, Dr. Grenier, Lori, Dr. Daeninck, Tracy, Jill and Irene, and a most heartfelt and intimate thank you to the women who have journeyed with Kathleen in the Metastasic Breast Cancer Support Group. She loved you all. Thank you to the staff at St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their professional and compassionate care.
