ELEANOR MAY EGER (nee MARSHALL) Eleanor May Eger departed this world very suddenly on April 3, 2007, at the age of 76 years to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Eleanor was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Earl Eger and Ken Eger and her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Paquin and Fran Marshall. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Philip; her son Douglas (Rae) parents of Graham, Scott and Alec of Edmonton; her daughter Leslie (Stan Kurtas) parents of John and Matthew; and her son Gerald (Deanna) parents of Ryan and Kyla of Toronto. Eleanor was born in Winnipeg to parents Herdis ( Daisy ) Peterson and William Marshall, originally born in Ireland. Eleanor's passions were her family, her Church, her ladies bible study group, and figure skating. Mom was a tireless worker and kept her home more than fastidious. She was a servant in every sense of the word and her greatest joys were always rooted deeply in the service of others. Mom enjoyed figure skating above all forms of entertainment and some of her greatest joy was attending World Figure Skating Events that were held in Vancouver, Calgary and Washington, with her sister Marilyn. Her incredible knowledge about skaters of the day would convince anyone that she had met them personally. Mom was a committed Christian and took great pride in serving in many capacities at the First Lutheran Church from ushering and greeting to active participation in many teas and other social events. Above all Eleanor was defined by character. She was loved by everyone because of her incredibly upbeat spirit and heart of encouragement. Mom never spoke ill of anyone and was always the first one prepared to lend a hand to someone in need. For this reason we know that she was welcomed into heaven with the words good and faithful servant . Eleanor will be sadly missed and always cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. The family would like to thank all of the first response medical team, and medical staff at Concordia and St. Boniface Hospitals who assisted Eleanor on April 3, your efforts were greatly appreciated. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church at 580 Victor Street with reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Flowers are respectfully declined; donations in Eleanor's name may be made to First Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 Main St. 338-7111

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am so sorry to see this...I have thought of her many times over the years. I wanted to call today...to thank her for being so kind to the outspoken young mother next door. I still have the baby outfits she gifted my sons. I still remember her when I see figure skaters. She was a great blessing in my life. May God grant you all peace. - Posted by: Angele Banman (Previous Neighbor) on: Jun 16, 2016
