Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE MARY FLORENCE SINCLAIR (WHITEHEAD) In Loving Memory Jessie was born Friday, November 16, 1927 at the Opaskwayak, MB. She spent her childhood years on Opaskwayak Reserve and at Elkhorn Residential School. Jessie was united in marriage to Joseph Raymond Sinclair of Moose Lake, MB on Sunday, August 26, 1956 at Opaskwayak, MB. They resided in Opaskwayak for a short time before moving to Thompson, where they lived for fourteen years, then moved to Fort McMurray for about eight years, finally moving to Edmonton in 1986 where Jessie resided until her passing. Jessie loved her grandchildren and when she had the opportunity to be alone with them she would share her wisdom with them. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles, her soap operas; she could be heard shouting at the television during hockey and football playoffs. Jessie was very intelligent as she was a prolific reader and could read and write the Cree syllabics. She had a lot of insight into many issues concerning the injustices of Aboriginal peoples faced, especially about Leonard Pelletier. She also had a great sense of humour which she used to bug her husband Joe. She loved to knit and crochet and made many scarves and gloves for her grandchildren. Jessie was very talented when it came to cooking great meals, especially lemon meringue pie. She loved her home and she often spent time growing house plants to make her home more comfortable. Jessie suffered two years with cancer before she passed away peacefully early Monday morning, March 26, 2007 at Misercordia Hospital, Edmonton, AB, aged 79 years. Jessie is survived by her husband Joseph Raymond Sinclair; her children, Lorraine (Russell), Ben, Louise (Ron), Moneca, Willie (Lisa), David, and Joanne; grandchildren, Tina (John), Albert, Carmen (Kevin), Adam, Jessica (Mike), Russell, Richard, Julie-Rose, Lisa, Gerald, Ron, Osani, Tanika; great-grand-children, Jayde, Emily, Aliaha, Jaggaer, and Angel; her brother Roger Whitehead; her daughter-in-law Laura Dysart (late Russell); brother-in-law Roger Carrier; and numerous other in-laws and close relatives. She was predeceased by her sons, Adam John, Russell; parents, Charlotte and Isaiah Whitehead; brothers, Peter and Bruce; sisters, Olive Carrier, Lillian Spence; Uncle John Young; cousins, Stan, Ella, Helen, Charles Young; brothers-in-law, Wilfred Spence, and Billy Scott; sisters-in-law, Jessie Whitehead and Myrtle Whitehead. Wake service was held Thursday, March 29, 2007 and Friday, March 30, 2007 Church of Messiah, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, MB. Interment: Emmanuel Cemetery, Opaskawayk Cree Nation, MB. Funeral service was held Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. Church of the Messiah, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, MB. Presider Rev. Antoine Lathlin.
