WALTER (WALLY) SCRIBNY 1936 2007 Peacefully surrounded by his family, our beloved husband, father and gigi passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the Gimli Community Health Center. Wally leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 49 years, Joyce; daughters, Debbie and grandchildren, LeeAnne (fiancée Neil) and Lance, and Leslie (Bill) and grandchildren, Kevin, Kim and Kayla; his sister Mary Belanger and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Anna, brothers-in-law, Roger Belanger, Tom and Arnold Besyk, Mike Kulbaba and Mike Halischuk, and his nephew Raymond Belanger. Wally was born and raised in Winnipeg and married Joyce Besyk on February 1, 1958. He started work at CNR when he was 16 and later at Via Rail, where he worked until retiring in 1989. He then worked part time at Hwy Trails and later for Don Borlas at the Domo Station in Winnipeg Beach. Wally loved spending time at his cottage in Winnipeg Beach, which they purchased in 1975 and when he retired, he and Joyce moved there permanently. Wally could often be found in his garage tinkering and listening to 1950s music. He enjoyed the backyard bonfires and the company of family, friends and neighbours. He like playing horseshoes, watching all sports, loved horses and was proud owner of his racehorse Rosser , and in his earlier years, playing baseball. He was very proud of his grandchildren and was a proud hockey and soccer grandpa , taking the kids to many practices and games. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 10 at 2:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with interment at a later date at Holy Rosary Cemetery. His honourary pallbearers will be Bill Ford, Wayne Dola, Art Gooley, Bert Besyk, Brent Dola, Don Borlaise and his five grandchildren.
