LAURA OLSON With characteristic great strength in her struggle to overcome complications after surgery, Laura Olson of Stonewall, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, her adoring son Dennis, at her side. A delightful person, she reveled in her family and took every opportunity to be good to them, with special care and attention always to the young ones. Born in Riverton on November 11, 1922, the third child of Thorarin and Kristin Einarson, Laura (Lara) married Raymond Olson in 1942. They lived in Riverton, raising their only child, Dennis. Energetic and hardworking, she was fishcamp cook, worked in various Riverton business and in 1973 at age 51, she and Ray bought a restaurant in Stonewall where as Mr. and Mrs. Olson they made the best french fries and pie in town. She leaves to cherish her life with many happy memories, her son Dennis (Kristine); granddaughter Lana (David); great-grandsons, Sascha and Brendan; brother Einar (Beverly); niece Sandra (Rod); and nephews, Donald (Debbie), Ritchie (Susie) and Craig (Lisa) and their children and grandchildren. In her last weeks she had many visits from her many loving family members. She was very proud of her family. Lara was predeceased by her parents, beloved husband Raymond, brother Bud, sister-in-law Anita, sister Ingibjorg and brother-in-law Marino Johansson. At the time of her hospitalization in early March, she had been without Ray for 20 years, living independently. In keeping with Lara's wishes, no service will take place.
