Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA WISZOWATY-BROZYNA September 16, 1919 April 8, 2007 The family of Barbara Wiszowaty-Brozyna sadly announce her peaceful passing, following a brief illness, on Sunday, April 8, 2007. She will be fondly remembered, by her son, Leszek (Janet), daughter Elizabeth (Art); grandchildren, Kristopher, Tamara, Myles (Kerri), Kevin and Michael, along with great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Theodore James (T.J.), Trystan and Hanna. Along with a large extended family in Canada, Poland and the U.S.A. Barbara was born in Bronisze Poland, the youngest of 13 children. She was on her way to University in Warsaw on September 1, 1939 but instead; she spent the war years actively working in the Polish Underground. She married her childhood friend Wenanty (Wenek) Wiszowaty, who was also active in the Polish Underground, and they escaped to the English Sector of Germany in 1945. Wenek came to Canada in 1947 and Barbara followed in 1948 with their son Leszek (born in Germany). Barbara settled into Winnipeg and raised two children Leszek and Elizabeth (born in Winnipeg) and was also a working Mom through these years. She also taught Polish language and dance classes, was involved with Harcerstwo and also involved within the Polish Community and it's many organizations. Throughout the years she supported Wenek's entrepreneurial spirit in the purchase of a General Store at Deerhorn, MB. Many busy and happy years were spent there, and she then ran the store herself for several years after the death of her husband. In 1974 Barbara sold the store and moved back to Winnipeg where she worked at Red River Community College as a cashier in The Green and Gold for 10 wonderful years. One of her enjoyable times of the year was looking after her grandchildren, a small garden and the visits from many friends at her summer home in Gimli, MB. She shared her life with Tadeusz Brozyna from 1982 until 1992 and had many happy times. When she retired from Red River she again became involved in the Polish Community, renewed many old acquaintances and made many new ones. Up to last fall she also maintained another love; a large garden of veggies and flowers and was planning for spring planting. For all her many friends to say goodbye, there will be a Funeral Mass on Friday, April 13, 2007, at St. Andrew Bobola at 541 Marion St., Winnipeg MB. Viewing will start at 9.30 a.m. Mass at 10.00 a.m. Barbara will then be laid to rest at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere alongside her loving husband Wenaty Wiszowaty. Pallbearers will be: her grandsons Myles, Kevin, Michael and Kris and friends Darcy Strutinsky and Robert Johns. The family wish to thank Dr. D. Caners and all the staff at Concordia Hospital 3 West, for their care and compassion at this difficult time in our lives. Although Barbara loved gardens and flowers, she asked that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to one of her favourite charitable organizations or a charity of your choice.
