Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED LOUISE ROBSON (nee MARTIN) August 3, 1914 - April 6, 2007 On April 6, at the age of 92, Mildred Robson passed into the next world, completing the musical score that was her life. She was, until then, a resident at Oakview Place where she received care, love, kindness. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, she was the only daughter of Frances (Stobo) and Thomas Martin. The family moved with the CPR from Moose Jaw to Revelstoke, to Vancouver, to Winnipeg, making a few whistle stops along the way. She loved the mountains and was proud to be part of a railroad family. Her brothers, Tom and Don predeceased her, but their wives Marion Martin and Marjorie Martin in BC and their families remember her fondly. She married Clifford Robson in 1941 and the tempo increased. His four brothers, George (Edna), Gerald (Mary), Alan (Margaret) and Don (Ruth) all welcomed her into their homes and lives. She is survived by George, Mary, Alan and Don. Mildred and Cliff led active lives with the University of Winnipeg activities, travel and church work, as well as raising a family. Her happiest days were supporting Cliff, cooking wonderful meals for the family and attending her children's musical performances. She lost her beloved Cliff in 1970, but continued on as a valued mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and community worker. Mildred's love of music led her to the Winnipeg Women's Chorus under Filmer Hubble, Westworth Church Choir, piano teaching in her home and numerous other much enjoyed musical adventures including Strings 'n' Things with Jean Carlson and Louise Love, a Seniors Choir and accompanying the Men's Chorus at Bethel Place. Arthritis put an end to her piano/organ playing days at age 90, but music continued to give her pleasure throughout her life, and she passed that love on to her family. Mildred will be fondly remembered by her son Martin (Mardi), daughter Carol (Jim) Nowell and her four grandsons, John Nowell, Glen (Carly) Nowell, Scott Robson and Chris Robson. Her two most recent delights were great-grandchildren, Sylvia and James Nowell. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff and residents of Bethel Place who shared their home with her for 10 years, as well as Dr. Jowett and the Home Care workers who made it possible for Mildred to remain on her own for so many years. They would also like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Extendicare Oakview Place for supporting her in her final year. A memorial service, conducted by Rev. Clark Saunders, will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at 2:30 p.m. at Westworth United Church (Grosvenor at Lanark). At this time we will pay tribute to the notes of her life among us, and the melodies that linger on. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks you to make a donation to the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts or a charity of your choice, in her memory, and please always make good coffee and serve a tasty dessert!
