ROBERT EDWARD SIWEK It is with a feeling of great loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Siwek on April 4, 2007, at the age of 62. He will be deeply missed by Susan; daughters, Mandi and Lisa; sister Pat (Bryne); nephew Neil; nieces, Elaine and Lindsay; aunts, Eleanor Siwek, Jean Watkins, Rose Harris, and Gladys Carefoot; cousins, Jim and David Duke, Kathy Campbell, Richard and Ronald Watkins, Randy and Lindsay Harris, Jim and David Carefoot and Colleen Armstrong. Bob was predeceased by his father Ted, and his mother Ruth, grandparents, Earnest and Jean O'Hara, Stanley and Anelia Siwek, Uncle Joe Siwek, Uncle Bert and Aunt Mildred Jansson, Uncle Peter Harris, and Uncle Bill Carefoot. Bob grew up in the west end of Winnipeg and attended Clifton Elementary School, Sergeant Park Junior High School and Tec Voc High School. He wore many hats throughout his life starting with his career as an electrician at Swifts, moving on to Children's Home of Winnipeg and finding his niche at Selkirk Junior High School in 1988 as head custodian where he was a mentor to the students and a friend to the staff. He retired from there in April 2005, sold his truck and bought his car, the Jelly Bean. In his youth, Bob spent his summers in Banff with his relatives working at a garage or at Grand Beach with his Grandma. He enjoyed waterskiing and hanging out with his many friends. In his later years he enjoyed listening to country music and watching every sport imaginable. He could tell you anything you wanted to know about the teams and he especially loved baseball, football, hockey, golf and curling. Bob touched the lives of all who knew him and he truly loved life. Anywhere you went with him you were bound to run into one of his friends. He was always there to lend a hand and was always able to get you a good deal, followed by a crooked smile and a wink. The family would like to thank all his many friends who visited him in the hospital these past three months as he always looked forward to those visits that brightened up his days. We would also like to thank all the dedicated doctors who Bob called the Punch and Judy Show when they would gather around his bedside to talk to him and the nurses and support staff of GA4 and MICU at HSC with your compassion Bob's passing was peaceful and dignified. At Bob's request, cremation has already taken place. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Selkirk Jr. High, 516 Stanley Avenue, Selkirk, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Youth Connection, School Improvement for Kids Run by Kids, c/o, or any pet rescue shelter. A day will not go by without someone thinking about you. Rest in peace, Wilson. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
