JOAN ANNABELLE KING 1940 - 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan King on Sunday, April 8, 2007. Predeceased by her father Peder and husband Gerald King. Joan leaves to cherish her memory her children, Shelley (Mike), Ward (Jackie) and Warren (Mirna); grandchildren, Hayden, Evan, Rose, Oliver, Oscar, Mirna, Tania and Robert; as well as her partner David Bak. She is also survived by her mother Alice and siblings; Gloria, Lorne, Norma, Lorraine and Gary and their families. Joan will also be missed by many other family members and friends. Joan had room in her life for so many because her heart was so big. Born to Peder and Alice Heskin. Joan grew up in Norquay, Saskatchewan, and went on to spend most of her years in Charleswood. Thanks to a double lung transplant, Joan was given the gift of an extended life which allowed her to see her children marry and the birth of her four grandchildren. Joan enjoyed going for walks and meeting with friends for a chat, coffee and cards. She also liked spending time with her friends at the Rockwood Centre. Viewing will take place on Wednesday, April 11 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m. also at Chapel Lawn with a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association in lieu of flowers. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences Centre for their care over the years and asks that you please sign your donor cards.
