FLORENCE ELINOR (ELINOR) CHARLES (nee SVEEN) June 14, 1925 - April 5, 2007 Elinor Charles passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Elinor was born in Enderby, British Columbia on June 14, 1925, as the only daughter of Gunnar and Edith Sveen. Elinor will be missed by her three brothers, Arnold Sveen (Barrhead, AB), Colin Sveen (Surrey, BC), Ken Sveen (Sherwood Park, AB), sons, Bob, Bill, Bruce, Barry, and daughter Bev, her grandchildren, Andrea, Brian, Carrie, Trevor, Jessica, Tamara, Andrew, Graham, Taylor, Max, Ashleigh, Brendin, Bryer, Vanessa, Dylan, Caden, and Quinn. Elinor moved with her family to Chipman, Alberta, at a very young age and stayed in Chipman until she graduated from the Chipman High School. Elinor attended Business College in Edmonton and worked at Taylor, Pearson Carson and then Trans Canada Airlines in Edmonton. Elinor met Jack Charles in Edmonton and was married on August 30, 1947. Elinor followed Jack's career with Air Canada and helped raise a family of five children all the while moving to Calgary, Saskatoon, Vancouver, Sydney (Australia), and Winnipeg. Elinor settled in Winnipeg after her husband Jack retired from Air Canada in November 1979. Jack passed away on September 3, 2006, and Elinor continued to live in the Courts of St. James in Winnipeg until her passing. While Elinor raised five children, she sold beauty care products from home and was a master cake decorator, baking countless wedding cakes for people in Winnipeg. Elinor was also a current member of the Christian Women's Association, as well as a member of the Canadian Legion. Elinor will be remembered for her incredible will to live life to the fullest despite years of coping with debilitating physical problems, her faultless attention to details and her love of plants and hobbies. Elinor would also like to be remembered as Elinor as she much preferred this to her original first name of Florence. A service for Elinor will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Saturday, April 14 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
