MARTHE VICTORINE BRUNEL (MONNEY) This lovely lady is now smiling over us all from above. Peacefully, our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister gave up her spirit to the Lord on Good Friday, April 6, 2007, at St. Boniface General Hospital. Born on January 1, 1913, in Noreaz, Switzerland, she immigrated to Canada at the age of three years with her parents, her brother Camille and sister Angèle. Her family lived in the Notre Dame de Lourdes area, where she married Alphonse Brunel in 1934 at St. Lupicin, MB. They moved with their young family to Winnipeg in 1941. Mom worked part time for Pelland Catering and many St. Boniface Hospital employees will remember her smiling face as she served in the Coffee shop and Cafeteria for 19 years. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Norm (Isabelle), Ray, Rene, Sally (Gilbert Lachance), and Ida (Jack Bevan), her loving and devoted sister, Alice (Gerry Boutin) of Edmonton, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. As well, she was loved dearly by her daughters-in-law, Vicki Brunel and Kathy Brunel. Predeceased by her husband, Alphonse, parents, Alfonse and Blandine Monney, brothers, Camille and Albert, and sisters, Angèle and Yvonne. Mom (MéMère) loved being with her family and many a happy gathering was held at her place where all enjoyed her wonderful hospitality and amazing meals. Christmas was very special, with a wonderful family gathering each year, the last being in 2006. She loved buying gifts for everyone, especially dolls for the little girls. The grandchildren were very privileged to have her care for them in her home while the parents were at work. No wonder they all love her so dearly! Summers spent with Sally at Albert Beach were very happy days for her, as she floated in the lake on her inner tube and played many a card game. We would like to thank the many people who gave her such wonderful care and comfort in the past few years, all the staff on 3DE at Centre Tache, staff on 5E at St. Boniface Hospital, and the pastoral care department that was so comforting for her and the family. Special thank you to Sister Rolande Lavallee and Father Roland Lanois. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2007, at the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 de la Cathedral, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Les Amis de Taché, 185 Despins St., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2B3, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Family and friends are invited to sign the online Book of Condolences at www.glenlawn.ca. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550

  • Our dear Mom always loved to visit with your Mom; there seemed to be a genuine friendship between the two and it was so nice to see them holding hands, not really able to communicate in any other way. Our prayers are with you on this difficult time. The family of Marie Lambert Lemieux. - Posted by: Alice Arnal (Friend) on: Apr 11, 2007
