The Winslade family spent almost every summer weekend camping at various campgrounds around Manitoba, first in a tent, then a house trailer and finally a camper van that Barry and Verna designed and custom built themselves. Every second summer, the family embarked on a new adventure, travelling and camping throughout Canada and the US. In their retirement years, Barry and Verna spent many summers at their cottage at Woodchuck Bay, Lake of the Woods where he loved to take family and friends fishing and for boat rides. As a life member of the Telephone Pioneers, he enjoyed woodworking and wood carving with fellow MTS retirees, and was an active member of ADANAC carvers. With various family members, Barry participated in 11 Supercities Walks for MS.
