FRED HECKERT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Fred Heckert, at the age of 71, on April 9, 2007. Fred will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Della; his daughter Kim (Shane) and son Brent (fiancée Bonnie); two grandchildren, Serena and Kyler. He is also survived by his sister Margaret (Rudy) of Beausejour and brother Rudy (Judy) of Tofino, BC. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Emilia in 1972. Fred was born in East Selkirk on April 19, 1936, and moved to Winnipeg in 1966. He was employed by the provincial government for many years. Fred was a skilled carpenter who loved to work with wood. His other passions were spending summer weekends at the lake and taking vacations in the winter. Following a stroke in 1990, Fred became an avid reader who enjoyed reading about Manitoba's history and about the early settlers. He always looked forward to his weekly crib games with his homecare companions. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111

Grandpa, you will always be in our heart as I know that you are up past the gates of heaven watching down over us all. Your memory will never fade as you were one of the best people I can remember. I hope that you have eternal happiness up there. We love you dearly, and will always cherish you. - Posted by: serena (grand daughter) on: Sep 10, 2013
