MAVIS BJORG KOLODIE (nee ELLIOTT) December 31, 1947 - April 9, 2007 On Monday, April 9, 2007, after a short battle with cancer Mavis went to be with her Mom and Dad, Arvid and Bjorg Elliott. Mavis will be forever missed by her loving husband Grant; son Curtis; daughter Tristin; son-in-law Bill Wilson; granddaughter Sydney; grandson Ryder; brother Sherman Elliott (Karen); sister Karen Laing (Dan); brothers-in-law, Richard Kolodie (Maureen), Bud Kolodie (Carol); sisters-in-law, Gayl Thorsteinson (Carl), Nancy Kolodie, Marge Furber; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Mavis was born in Craik, SK, then moved to Sandy Hook, MB, with her family. She completed high school in Gimli where she made many lifelong friends. Mavis worked in Winnipeg for CP Telecom, Bank of Nova Scotia and UGG where she left to raise her children. Later Mavis joined Royal Trust from where she retired after 20 years to open (with Linda Walker) the very successful Two A Tea on Corydon. Mavis retired from the tea house in 2004 to help with her grandchildren, Sydney and Ryder. Mavis and Grant raised two terrific children, Curtis and Tristin, we know how proud she is of them. Mavis was only starting to also instil her kind and caring values in her grandchildren. And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates closed after her. And they said: We cannot see her, but she is still with us. A Mother like ours is more than a memory she is a living presence. Your Mother is always with you. She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, she's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick and the perfume she wore, she's the cool hand on your brow when you are not feeling well. She is the breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colours of the rainbow, she is Christmas morning. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she is crystallized in every tear drop. A mother shows every emotion happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow all the while, hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life. She's the place you came from, your first home, and she's the map you follow with every step you take. Author Unknown. We want to thank Dr. J. Brian Sharkey, physician, friend and a Christian, for everything he did for our Mavis and for our family. And, last but not least, thank-you to the staff on 4 North at the Victoria Hospital who filled Mavis' stay with love and compassion. You're forever in our thoughts and prayers. Goda Nott Elskan Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Mavis' memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON 1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Funeral service will be Monday, April 16, 10:00 a.m., at St. George's Anglican Church, 168 Wilton at Grosvenor. neil bardal inc. 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
