Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER R. FOLLIOTT June 8, 1925 April 10,2007 After a life of many blessings, Walter passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10 at Deer Lodge Centre, with his family by his side. Survived by his wife of 56 years Elda, sister Mary, daughter Nancy, son Bob, daughter-in-law Laurie, granddaughters, Heather and Andrea, great-grandson Kayden and their extended families. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg. He married Elda Ferguson of Foxwarren, Manitoba in the fall of 1950 and together they raised their two children, living in Winnipeg, Vancouver and New York City. Upon his retirement in 1988, Mum and Dad returned to BC and enjoyed many happy years of retirement. Dad was a dedicated family man and happiest when his home was filled with the laughter of his family and their friends. Dad had a large circle of friends who will remember his quick wit and unique sense of humour. Dad served during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy. Shortly after his discharge in 1945, he began his successful career in the grain business and eventually accepted a Commission from the federal government as the first Supervisor of the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange. Next to his family, Dad was most proud of his accomplishments and his friends in the grain business. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Deer Lodge Centre for their care and compassion during his six month stay. According to Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CNIB, Deer Lodge Centre Foundation or your favourite charity.
