BENNIE (BEN) WALTER PRAWDZIK We sadly announce the passing of Ben Prawdzik at Concordia Hospital on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the age of 81. Ben was born in Polonia, Manitoba on September 1, 1925. Ben married his beloved wife Violet of 57 years, on June 28, 1949 after serving in the army overseas where he was proud to have served his country. Ben and Violet farmed in the Polonia area until they moved to Winnipeg in 1956. While raising their four children, Ben had jobs as a cab driver, well drilling and later worked at Arctic Ice where Ben retired from in 1986. After retirement, Ben volunteered at the Elmwood Senior's Centre, where he was a very active member. Ben was an avid outdoorsman. His passions were hunting and fishing. Ben loved the fact that his children, many grandchildren and now great-grandson enjoyed them too. Later in life, Ben was just happy to be sitting on his patio swing watching the birds and the bees outside. Above all, Ben's family meant more to him than anything else. He loved Sunday dinners, playing cards, his annual turkey BBQ (which him and Violet were famous for) and all family gatherings. He will be greatly missed. Ben was predeceased by his son Wayne. He is survived by his wife Violet, son Randy (Debbie), daughters, Debbie and Bernadine (Thomas), and daughter-in-law Laura; grandchildren, Randene (Phil) and Sean (Colleen), Dustin (Michelle), Dennie (Rob), and Devon, and Chelsea and T.J., and Ashley (Rod) and Sabrina (Tommy), nine beautiful great-grandchildren, and many other extended family and close friends. Prayers will be said on Monday, April 16, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Gerard's Parish, 45 Foster Street. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Gerard's Parish. Interment will follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ben's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Dad, you will be sadly missed. You've left a huge hole in our hearts and we will think of you always. Rest in Peace Bud. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD 982-7550
