WILLIAM (BILL) JOHN SMITH Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer; it is with deep regret that we announce the death of William John Smith on Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 74 years. Bill passed away with his wife, Shelley and daughter, Joanne by his side. Remaining to forever cherish Bill's memory are his wife Shelley of 23 years of marriage; stepchildren, Rick and Joanne; three daughters Kelly, Mary Theresa, Natalie; two sons Matt, Graham; and nine grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; sister Margaret; and three brothers Gary, Jim, Greg, and their families. He was predeceased by a great-grandchild as well as his brother Glenn. As a youth, Bill was involved in many sports, some of which included football and baseball. Curling and Golf became some of Bill's favorite activities. Don Leslie was one of Bill's avid golf partners, he had great admiration of their friendship and of the times they spent together. He was a member of the legion for many years of his life. This is where he spent time with many comrades and friends who will miss him deeply. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion, St. James Branch #4, 1755 Portage Avenue. A Special Thank You goes out to The Grace Hospital, Riverview Health Centre and the palliative care unit for providing such great care to Bill during this past year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Bill's arrangements have been entrusted to Manitoba's largest Original Family Owned Funeral Service Provider: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897-4665
