Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE (MAY) DOYLE It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Florence May Doyle on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the age of 96 years at the Meadowood Manor. Remaining to cherish May's memory are her son Larry (Gail); daughter Andrea; daughter-in-law Patti; son-in-law Bob and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her husband J; son Terence; daughter Delane, and son-in-law Victor predeceased her. May was born January 1, 1911 and raised in Fort William, Ontario, the youngest of five children. As a young woman, she was a teacher in a one-room country schoolhouse in the Kaministiquia area in the District of Thunder Bay. She was well known for her skills as a pianist at all the local get-togethers. In 1952, she was left to raise her four children after the premature death of her husband J. She faced this challenge with faith, courage, dignity, and tenacity. May worked at the Holy Cross Parish office during which time she was an active member in the parish and the Catholic Women's League. She remained at Holy Cross until her retirement in 1977, at which time she became involved in volunteer work and enjoyed attending classes at the University of Winnipeg in the senior's program. It was at this time that she could finally completely indulge in her passion for reading. In addition, during her retirement, she fulfilled her dream of traveling to Britain to visit with extended family. Mom will be remembered by her family for her sense of humour, her soft raisin cookies, peaches-pineapple and whipped cream desserts, star apple cut-outs, roast beef Sunday dinners, and one very memorable, extremely flaming, plum pudding one Christmas eve. We had a lot of laughs. Thanks Mom. May's family would like to thank the staff and friends at the Meadowood Manor for the wonderful care and love they gave to her. Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held Thursday April 19, 2007 at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Road at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. R. Pasanato officiating. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1455 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 1L8.
