Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN MAY THISTLETHWAITE On April 15, 2007 at home, Kit, beloved wife of John, passed away at the age of 86. Besides her husband, she is survived by Kit Palfy (Lou) of St. Albert AB, Fred Curry, Jay Doe (Alan), Nick Curry (Debbie), John Thistlethwaite (Lorraine), and Tom Thistlethwaite (Tracy), 11 grandchildren, and seven great- grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing, son-in-law Rick Hudson. She was predeceased by her first husband Rufus Curry, sister Shirley Martin, brother William Belcher, daughter-in-law Gail Curry, and daughter Rosalind Hudson. Mom was born in Brandon, MB, September 9, 1920, the oldest child of Art and Mae Belcher. The family moved to the North End where she attended Machray School and graduated from St. John's High in the late 1930's. During the war, she enlisted in the CWAC. She served in the east and was honourably discharged after the war with the rank of Captain. She married Rufus in 1947. Rufus died in 1956 and left her with four young children. A fifth child was born posthumously. Working days and attending Normal School at night, she earned her teaching degree. She first taught in the St. Vital School Division where she met and married John Thistlethwaite. They had two more children. She worked in Winnipeg #1 as a supply teacher and then full time at Grant Park High from which she retired in 1983. There was lots of time for grandchildren, great-grandchildren, summers at Matlock, quilting, travelling, and enjoying life. She was very active at St. George's Anglican Church Crescentwood for many years and in many ways. Mom's six year old great-granddaughter said, The family will never be the same without her! A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church Crescentwood, 168 Wilton St. at Grosvenor Avenue with Rev. Ralph Baxter presiding. If friends so desire, donations in Kit's memory may be made to the St. George's Memorial Fund, 168 Wilton St., Winnipeg, MB R3M 3C3 or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
