LESLIE NEIL SCHARIEN Peacefully with family at his side, Les Scharien, aged 84 years, formerly of Petersfield, MB, passed away at the Tudor Home, Selkirk on April 15, 2007. Les leaves to mourn his passing, daughter Diane; granddaughter Dana (Mark) Jensen; grandson Jason (Dawnalee) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Megan, Erica, Ben and Zack; his sister Evelyn; brother-in-law Oli Zablotny and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie, parents, John and Margaret Scharien, son-in-law Jim Anderson, sisters, Lillian and Bonnie and brothers, Jim and Bud. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. Private family interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Portage la Prairie. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Foundation or CancerCare. Special thanks to the staff at Tudor Home, Dr. Demsas and Dr. Lindenschmidt for all their excellent care. HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST God saw he was getting tired And a cure was not to be So He put His arms around him And whispered, Come with me. With tear-filled eyes we watched him Suffer and fade away. Although we loved him deeply We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hardworking hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
