DALE WAYNE PATRICK YOUNG March 9, 1955 - April 15, 2007 It is with great sadness that the family of Dale Young of Winnipeg, MB, announce his sudden passing at age 52. He will be remembered and sadly missed by his wife, best friend and soulmate Teri Masson: his best friends, sons, Cory (Lauren) and Chris, both of whom he was so very proud of and were a true source of joy to him; his stepson Mackenzie; his mother Bernice; brothers, Dave (Trish), Ken, and Jody (Michelle). Dale was predeceased by his father Lawrence Cook Young, and his brother Lorne. Also left to mourn are his mother-in-law Theda; sister-in-law Kathy (Peter), their daughter Jennifer; brothers-in-law, Jerry, John (Patti); also aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends, especially his buddy Lorne. Dale was employed with the City Of Winnipeg for 27 years and was counting down the days until he would retire. When asked what he would do once he retired, he would often answer Whatever I want! He and his friend Lorne would often discuss how they would build and manage a golf course upon retiring. Great debates often took place over who would be in charge of the beer cart! Dale was very artistic and proudly displayed this not only in his beautiful dream catchers, but in his matting and framing of Native artwork which was his favourite and displayed throughout his home. He was quite the handyman and could fix just about anything. He was very proud of his backyard and his deck which he built and gladly spent many hours there with family and friends. Dale would love to sit out on the deck with a beer listening to Pink Floyd and the Blues until all hours with family and friends or dining on one of his famous gourmet dinners. Dale was usually the life of the party and was a master of the one-liners and zingers! He truly loved the simple pleasures in life. When his boys were younger, Dale would love to spend summer vacations camping at Nutimik Lake and other favourite camp spots with his sons. The three of them would sit by the campfire for hours on end every night just talking, playing games and listening to music. Time seemed to stand still around that campfire. Golfing was just one of Teri and Dale's favourite pastimes. On every par 3 hole they golfed, they always had a bet for closest to the pin. Unfortunately for Dale, he was usually stuck buying someone a beer or two in the clubhouse! Some of their best times were spent golfing at Holiday Mountain where they went every May and September long weekend. Dale would proudly boast that he once golfed 52 holes in a single day at Holiday Mountain. Dale was taken from us far too early. We can, however, take solace knowing he enjoyed his life to the fullest and would stop at nothing to make sure those around him were having a good time too. He was a good, honest, loving man and those near him could count on Dale to bring a smile to their faces no matter what the situation. He will be missed, but more importantly, he will be remembered. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be scattered by his wife and children. A reception to remember Dale's life with his family and friends will take place on Friday, April 20 at 12:00 noon at Desjardins Funeral Home, 357 Des Meurons. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the E.M.S. team for their relentless effort on Dale's behalf. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Mental Health Association or the charity of your choice. • Still can’t listen to Pink Floyd without crying, and still can’t stop playing them. Ham and eggs is nothing without the ham. See you on the other side brother... - Posted by: Lorne (Bosom Buddy) on: Jun 16, 2018
