Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY VALENTINE CAMPBELL (IRISH) February 14, 1907 April 16, 2007 It is with great sorrow, but also with great love and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, mother-in-law and sister, peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, April 16, 2007. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her children, Glenn Campbell (Marg Haugen), Joy Knudson (John), grandchildren, Kerri McCurdy (Boyd), Campbell Knudson (Jihyun Kim) and Curtis Knudson (Yoko Chapman) and great- grandchildren, Tess McCurdy, Patrick and Brendan Knudson and Elle and Jay Knudson and sister Connie Heggie. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Charles Campbell and siblings, Percy, Eleanor and Ray. Dorothy was born and grew up in St. Vital on River Road. As a young woman, Dorothy moved to downtown Winnipeg where she worked for Eaton's until she married Charles Campbell in 1930. Charlie and Doe were together as a loving couple until Charlie's passing in 1996. In 1958 Doe's life was immeasurably enriched when she and her family built a cottage at Clearwater Bay at Lake of the Woods. From that point onwards, cabin life with her family brought her great enjoyment. She loved jigsaw puzzles and teaching and playing cribbage with her friends and family. Despite being unable to swim, she bravely took many trips with her voyageur husband on canoe trips and sailing adventures. Dorothy was a talented artist whose ceramic artwork was much sought after by patrons worldwide through The Crafts Guild of Manitoba. She was also a wonderful seamstress and knitter, creating unique and wonderful clothing for herself and her family over the years. Dorothy was very excited to celebrate her 100th birthday on February 14, 2007 with her family and friends. All who knew Doe were fortunate to share in her life, spent in great health, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy's family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the wonderful Home Care workers who helped her over the years as she lived independently in her home, and the Palliative Care ward at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion at the end of this marvelous life. A service will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, on Friday April 20 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Dorothy's name.
