JOHN KIRKNESS John was born Sunday, October 16, 1949 at Thicket Portage, Manitoba. He attended school in Thicket Portage and moved to The Pas with his family in 1969. John worked at the Workplace for many years, he was also employed through the Supported Employment Program and worked at the Museum and Town Garage. John will be remembered as a proud and loving man, a man who always had a smile to share and treats for the kids. John passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at St. Anthony's Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, aged 57 years. John will be sadly missed by his mother Eliza; father Andrew; sister Irene (Allan); brothers, Marcel (Shelley), William (Gwen), Dennis (Priscilla), Tommy (Loretta), Greg (Debbie), Irvin (Thelma); many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and close relatives. John was predeceased by his brothers, William, Leslie, and an infant brother; grandparents, Johnny and Evelyn Moore, Thomas and Lucy Kirkness. A Wake Service was held Saturday, April 14, 2007 and Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Church of Messiah, Opaskwayak Cree Nation. The Funeral Service was held Monday, April 16, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at Christ Church Anglican, The Pas, with Rev. Gloria Lavallee presiding, assisted by Lay Reader Jim Atkins. Pallbearers were John's brothers, Marcel Kirkness, William Kirkness, Dennis Kirkness, Tommy Kirkness, Greg Kirkness, Irvin Moore. Interment took place in Lakeside Cemetery, The Pas. If friends so desire, donations to the Manitoba Epilepsy Association, 301-309 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 2J8 would be appreciated by John's family.
