Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEATRICE MINNIE JANE (MCEWEN) BOWIE Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2007 at the age of 87 at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall, with her daughter Jonna and her family at her side. Beatrice was the daughter of John and Margaret McEwen. Mom was predeceased by her first husband Edwin Barber and their daughter Marlene; her second husband R. F. (Bill) Bowie and her companion John Harcus. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Jonna (Garry) Peltz and their children, Michelle and Curtis; son Roy (Bonnie) Barbour and their children, Darrell, Cory, Andrew and Jackie; stepson Doug (June) Bowie and daughter Marnie; Marlene's children, Brenda and Heather and many great-grandchildren. Beatrice is survived by her sisters, Eva Tillie (John) Williamson, Eleanor Margaret (Edward) Lamb and her brother Laurence B. McEwen and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Edward H. J. (Florence) McEwen. Beatrice was born November 26, 1919 in Balmoral and lived the majority of her life in Stonewall. For many years she worked at Manitoba Telephone and the (Rexall Drugs) Stonewall Pharmacy. Mom loved to spend time in her garden with her flowers, her favourite were her roses, but there wasn't anything she couldn't grow. She also had a special place in her heart for cats, dogs and birds. (Especially stray cats - Buddy). Mom enjoyed spending her summer months at Marlene's cabin in Ontario. She was a member of the U.C.W. Other hobbies included Bingo, crocheting and many crafts. The thought of losing you hurts me so much Though now that you're gone I still feel your touch I remember your sweet smile The way you would shine The days we spent together When you were once mine You were the best grandmother A child could ask for Never less, always more I'll never forget the moments we shared And how much you loved me And how much you cared But now you're with the angels And the good Lord above As I cry one last tear and send you my love It's time to say goodbye as sad as I am Farewell Grandma until we meet again Loved forever and always - Michelle We love you mom, you will forever be in our hearts. Thank you to the staff of Rosewood Lodge for their compassionate care. You truly are our angels on earth. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Rev. Bonita Garrett will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beatrice's memory to the Canadian Alzheimer's Society or the Winnipeg Humane Society. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
