Date of Passing: Mar 29, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRACE ALMA MEGGISON So very peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2007, in her home in Deloraine, Manitoba, Grace, beloved wife of the late Ross Meggison, passed away with her children by her side. Alma Grace Meggison (nee Todd) was born in Carievale, SK in 1915 to Charles and Margaret Todd. She was the fourth of six children. A brother Carl, died at the age of 18. Her sisters, who were her best friends, were Marion Pye (married to Stan Pye), Margaret Moore (married to Jack Moore), Ruth Meggison (married to Jack Meggison) and Jean Brown (married to Mel Brown). All are deceased. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Judy Coleman (Jim) from Winnipeg, Lorna Nestibo (Gary) from Goodlands, MB and son Murray (Lynda) Meggison from McAllen, Texas; grandchildren, Cory and Chad Coleman, Winnipeg; Tanya (Jeff) Brown and Dallas (Kristy) Nestibo, Brandon; Bryan and Brad Meggison from Denton, Texas. Also remaining are Dad's sisters, Bessie Baker (Kaslo, BC), Jean Ruttan (Brandon, MB) and sister-in-law, Glennis Meggison (Stan) (Trail, BC), several nieces and nephews. Grace spent most of her life in the Goodlands area. She attended Waterloo School and then, in her 20's, worked in Winnipeg waiting for Dad to return from overseas in the Second World War. They married on October 5, 1946 and moved to the family farm where they lived side by side with Dad's brother and his wife, Irvin and Ella and their family. Mom worked hard on the farm, had a large garden each year and spent countless hours canning and freezing. She was an active participant in her church and community and was a role model for life to her children and grandchildren. Mom's faith in Jesus Christ began when she made a commitment to Him in her early 50's. She became a prayer warrior for others and studied His Word diligently after that. Upon retirement, Dad and Mom spent a couple of years living in Brandon, but moved back to the farm for a short while before moving to their home in Deloraine in 1996. Dad deceased in 2001 - they celebrated 55 years of marriage that same year. Throughout her life, but especially in later years, mom made beautiful quilts with the ladies in her quilting group. She loved the fellowship she had with these women and with those in her Bible Study Group. She remained interested and involved in people's lives throughout her life. Mom enjoyed spending time, over the past few years especially, at the cottage on the North Shore at Clear Lake. She loved being there with her family and appreciated her life-long friendships with her lake neighbours. A service of celebration was held at Fellowship Community Church in Goodlands, MB on Monday, April 2, 2007. Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies? Her children arise up and call her blessed. Proverbs 31: 10, 28
