GERARD ALBERT MORRISSETTE 1922 - 2007 It is with sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Gerry Morrissette on April 18, 2007. Predeceased by our dear Mom Kathleen and his siblings, Dad leaves to mourn: his son Bryan (Pat) of Dauphin; daughters, Geraldine (Eldon), Sheryl (Dwayne) of Detroit, Susan (Dan); grandchildren, Andrea (Andrew), Jackie (Ian), Michael, Vanessa, Ryan, Rachel, Mathew and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Owen and Gabriel. Dad was born in Fannystelle, Manitoba and grew up in Fannystelle and La Salle, Manitoba. Dad left school to support his family after his Dad's death and after a number of years joined the services during the Second World War serving in Kingston, Ontario. Upon his return to Winnipeg he was employed at Huxley's and Eatons. Dad trained as a heavy duty mechanic during his service years and worked for over 30 years at the airport with the Department of Transport. Upon his retirement in 1987 Dad turned to his favourite pastimes of curling and golf. At the same time Mom and Dad were busy spending time at their cabin in Sandy Hook. As Dad's ability to curl decreased he spent time at the Fort Rouge Legion enjoying the company of his friends and acquaintances and of course taking part in the Seniors' activities and meetings. Dad truly enjoyed the company of others and was never without a joke and a smile. We will miss you Dad. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for their care in Dad's last week. A special thank you to the Fort Rouge Legion Senior's group who provided Dad with so many happy times. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, 254 Arnold Avenue on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. In accordance with Dad's wishes, cremation will follow. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Mathew, Chris, Vanessa, Michael, Andrea and Jackie. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 252, 426 Osborne Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2A3. They shall not grow old As we that are left grow old Age shall not weary them Nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun And in the morning We will remember them.
